Captain America: Civil War Gets An Honest Trailer

It's finally here. After months of pleading, fans were finally treated the an honest trailer for Captain America: Civil War — and it is as brutal as you expect.

Uploaded by Screen Junkies, the video is best described as nearly seven minutes of unfiltered sass. The channel has built a reputation for creating hilariously blunt 'honest trailers' of Hollywood's biggest films. So, it was only a matter of time before the team set their eyes on Civil War.

The trailer throws its punches hard as it begins with a subtle diss to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The dig criticizes the franchise's lack of good villains, noting that all Marvel Studios can do is pit its heroes against each other to create some sort of conflict.

Moving forward, the trailer deconstructs each plot hole which mars the pristine image of Civil War. Most impressively, the folks at Screen Junkies went so far as to create a massive list of Zemo's villainous motives. The scrolling list moves pretty fast on the screen, so viewers will need to pause the video to read the entire explanation, but it's pretty on-point.

Showcasing each of the characters, the honest trailer throws quips at each hero though it focuses particularly on Captain America and Bucky Barnes. Since Civil War centered on the pair's relationship, Screen Junkies asked why good-old Steve Rogers would waste his time on the ex-assassin when he has two perfectly good boyfriends in Tony Stark and Sam Wilson. Of course, the video nods to the popular 'Stucky' ship by sharing some mildly NSFW fanart of Bucky and Steve getting frisky, so be warned.

And, as usual, the video ends by giving its newly victimized film with a brand new title. In the case of Civil War, Screen Junkies felt the film would be better titled "Captain America 3: Avengers 2.5 - Boy, That Escalated Quickly."

Unsurprisingly, this isn't the first online video to take a crack at Civil War. Following the film's release, a popular video titled "How Captain America: Civil War Should Have Ended" hit Youtube, and an "Unnecessary Censorship" compilation was uploaded to the Internet earlier this month.

Marvel's Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the newly-formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity, but after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps — one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark's surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.

Captain America: Civil War is now available on Digital HD and will be available on 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, Digital SD and VOD September 13.
