Wolverine 3: 5 Things Fans Want to See in the Logan Trailer
We've recently learned that the trailer for Wolverine 3: Logan has been officially classified and [...]
Honorable Mention: Omega Red
X-Men comic book fans of the '90s era (and beyond) have long been asking to see this happen, but Logan has a chance to make it happen: We need to see a Wolverine vs. Omega Red throw down!
Omega Red (aka Arkady Rossovich) is a villain and Wolverine rival whose powers include a "Death Factor" (wears down his opponents' life force) and Carbonite tendrils that protrude from his arms. He's basically the Soviet Union version of Weapon X.
Obviously Logan would have to reformat his background and origin story to fits its premise (set in a bleaker future of 2024); however, with the corporation Transigen manufacturing mutant weapons, getting an Omega Red reveal in the film (and teased in this trailer) seems within the realm of feasible possibility.
prevnextX-23 Reveal
Fans have long been clamoring for X-23 to make a live-action debut in the X-Men movie universe - and there has been mounting evidence that she will. There's even evidence of a ticking clock, winding down to a 10/23 (or "X/23") reveal for fans. But let's take it a step further: we want an X-23 reveal in the Logan trailer.
We already know that Logan revolves around a young child (with two claws in each arm like Wolverine) being experimented on by Transigen, and Logan attempting to protect said child. The two claws detail suggests that X-23 is happening, so let's just hope the trailer will make the reveal as epic as it should be.
prevnextMr. Sinister
Mr. Sinister is another big rumor that's been hanging over Logan for some time; the villain is iconic in X-Men comic book lore, a master schemer whose long-range machinations can reach all over the X-Men movie universe.
We've said repeatedly that we don't need Logan to rush out Mr. Sinister and/or do away with him too soon. We simply want this film to reveal his presence in the X-Men movie universe, and start to set up the idea that he has been playing with the lives of the X-Men for decades, leading to X-23, Cable, Gambit, and so many other great storylines the filmmakers could adapt.
The Wolverine 3 trailer can simply treat it as an Easter egg (a name drop, or quick screen image), but in some small way, we want Logan to quickly let fans know that the villain they want to see is in the mix.
prevnextCybernetic Mercenary Action
The Wolverine movies have tried to deliver some impressive superhero action, but admittedly, a lot of the biggest action sequences involving Wolverine battling some iconic foes (sometimes in crazy locations) have been rather lackluster.
In recent days we've gotten confirmation that cybernetic villain Donald Pierce and his team of cyborg mercenaries The Reavers are primary antagonists in Logan. So now that we know that the older version of Wolverine will be up against some BAMFs with futuristic technology, we want the Logan trailer to show us that director James Mangold has come up with some better action chops than we saw in The Wolverine's climatic battle.
With mutants and cybernetic soldiers all at his disposal, Mangold's first trailer for the film needs action that would make James Cameron proud, and immediately erase fan skepticism about another disappointing Wolverine movie.
prevnextOld Man Logan
Fans are all but assured that Logan (down to its title) will be a loose adaptation of the "Old Man Logan" storyline from Marvel Comics - but now it's time to see the proof.
It's obvious that this version of the story (launched under the Fox movie umbrella) will have none of the major Marvel superhero appearances that the original "Old Man Logan" story did. However, with this first trailer, Wolverine 3 needs to show us enough "Old Man Logan" Easter eggs to justify the article we will eventually write about them!
prevnextRated-R Status
This one is simple, and doesn't need to even necessarily be part of the trailer footage itself: fans want to finally, at long last see that R-Rating marker sitting at the end of the Logan trailer's run. They want to know, for sure, that they are finally getting the brutal, bloody, Wolverine movie the character deserves.
