Disney's A Wrinkle in Time adaptation has added yet another talented actor to its ranks in the form of Ant-Man's Michael Pena.

Pena joins the production as the character Red, which is starting principal photography in Los Angeles today. Pena is most known for his roles in Marvel Studio's well received Ant-Man, where he played the role of Luis, and The Martian, where he played the part of Rick Martinez. Pena will be reprising his Ant-Man role in the upcoming sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp.

He joins an immensely talented cast, and director Ava DuVernay (Selma) is excited to get started on the project and on the process of adapting this beloved story to the big screen.

"Since Day One, this experience has shimmered with the promise and possibility, the passion and power that only great stories offer. And Madeline L'Engle's book is a great story indeed. A cool, quirky tale of an imperfect girl on an otherworldly expedition that has been praised and banned, dissected and celebrated the world over for more than 50 years." DuVernay said.

A Wrinkle in Time centers around Meg, her brother Charles, and their friend Calvin, as they journey through space and varying dimensions in a quest to find their scientist father. The original novel by Madeleine L'Engle was released in 1962.

The film stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Dr. Kate Murry), Chris Pine (Dr. Alex Murry), Reese Witherspoon (Mrs. Watsit), Zach Galifianakis (The Happy Medium), Bellamy Young, Andre Holland (Principal Jenkins), Mindy Kaling (Mrs. Who), Rowan Blanchard, Levi Miller (Calvin), Oprah Winfrey (Mrs. Which), Storm Reid (Meg Murry), Will McCormack, Deric McCabe (Charles Wallace), and now Michael Pena (Red).

A Wrinkle in Time is being directed by Ava DuVernay, and producing the project is Jim Whitaker (Pete's Dragon) and Catherine Hand. The script was penned by Jennifer Lee (Frozen).

The film currently has no release date.
