Everyday, we pass heroes on the street. From police officers to doctors, countless people live their lives in a way that would make even Captain America proud - but one group is often overlooked. For people who suffer from chronic illnesses, life can be a daily struggle, but they carry on with the kind of grace Wonder Woman pervades. And, now, Marvel Comics is giving a shoutout to one group of invisible heroes. The company has created five new heroes who will debut in a comic series created to teach people about inflammatory bowel disease or IBD for short.

The new comic book is called The Unbeatables and feature five superheroes who deal with the chronic condition. The series made its debut at the MCM London Comic Con in association with IBD Unmasked. Marvel Custom Solutions created the team with help from IBD patients all over the world.

So far, the comics have drawn in familiar names from the industry. Deadpool co-creator Fabian Nicieza and Buddy Scalera have worked on the series. The pair are joined by artist JL Giles, Fernando Blanco, Chris Sotomayor, and Kirbi Fagan.

In fact, Fagan is suffers from IBD herself and said she was happy to work on The Unbeatables.

Seb Tucknott, a member of the IBD Unmasked group, also spoked about his eagerness to work on the comic. Tucknott was diagnosed with IBD in 2007, and he hopes the comics encourage people to talk more openly about the disease.

"It's not something really talk about, so it was good to work on something like this," he said. "When I was first diagnosed I thought it was over, but then as I started a website and spoke about IBD I realised it gave me opportunities - like this and helping on the comic - that I wouldn't have had."

Right now, there are over five million people in the world who suffer from IBD. If you are not familiar with the condition, then you should know it is a debilitating one. IBD can cause intense abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, cramping, and more.

This is not the first time that Marvel Comics has created heroes to honor its readers who suffer from health issues. Before The Unbeatables came together, the company created a young heroine named Sapheara. Marvel teamed up with the Children's Hearing Institute of New York to develop the hero who kicks butt and educates readers about hearing impairments.

In fact, the heroine even has a sidekick named The Blue Ear. Rather than being a sentient partner, Blue Ear is a hi-tech hearing aid that helps Sapheara do her crime-fighting duties.
