Marvel Studios has done a fantastic job at streamlining storylines that took sizable amounts of monthly issues to tell and condensing them into 2 and a half hour fare. Still, there is nothing quite like reading the source material, as it allows a lot more room for character development.

Granted, 2 and a half hours might not be quick enough for you, and if that's the case then Marvel has the perfect solution for you there as well. In the newest episode of Marvel TLDR, the crew focuses on the fan favorite Winter Soldier saga, where the mystery of just who the Winter Solider was took much longer than a run to the theaters.

It's easy to forget how involved the cosmic cube was to the storyline, as the film decided to go a different route. The same goes for Winter Solider killing the Red Skull, and the involvement of Aleksander Lukin. These aspects weren't included in any way, and yet by film's end things still end up right around the same space on the track, with Bucky running off solo to figure out how to live with all the things he's done. It did diverge from the whole "Red Skull is living in my brain thing" with Lukin though, but looking back that was probably a solid choice.

The original storyline was written by Ed Brubaker with art by Steve Epting, Mike Perkins, and Michael Lark. You can watch the video above for the overall summary, but the storyline is well worth a read if you've got the time.

The Russo's will be at it again with their next anticipated project Avengers: Infinity War. The film will look to condense the epic Infinity Gauntlet event, heralded as a classic by many, to another 2 and a half hour timeframe, and with 3 times the heroes on the screen that occupied the set of Winter Soldier. They handled Captain America: Civil War effectively, which also contained it's huge share of characters, so Infinity War should be in good hands.
