Spier-Man has a long, complicated history at the box office. The Marvel franchise made its first big jump to the silver screen when Tobey Maguire suited up as the vigilante. Then, Andrew Garfield inherited the webbed, spandex suit with The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. Most recently, Tom Holland has taken up the mantle to the delight of fans. The first trailer for Holland's Spider-Man: Homecoming has already made millions look forward to his next superhero outing.

Still, that doesn't mean Marvel Studios or Sony Pictures can't look back to the past. In the recent trailers for Homecoming, there are several subtle nods to past moments from Spider-Man's cinematic history.

One keen Twitter user has already caught on to two different homages in the Homecoming trailer. The scene where Spider-Man gets thrown into a school bus is very similar to when Electro flings Garfield's Spider-Man into a cop car in one of the past films. The same can also be said when the Vulture throws Holland's character to the ground; Garfield was similarly tossed around like a rag doll before he recollected his wits.

Of course, the most obvious nod is at the end of the Homecoming trailer. When Spider-Man is seen pulling two pieces of a halved ferry boat together, many fans remembered when Maguire's Spider-Man had to do much the same to a runaway train. In Spider-Man 2, the hero was almost torn in half by his webbing when he tried to slow down a rogue train and keep it from flying off some debunked rails.

So, what do you think? Are there any other intentional nods that you noticed in the Homecoming trailer? Let us know in the comments below!

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

The cast features Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, with Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr.. It also includes Jon Favreau, Martin Starr, Kenneth Choi, Michael Mando, Selenis Leyva, Isabella Amara, Jorge Lendeborg, Jr., JJ Totah, Hannibal Buress, and Jacob Batalon.

The film is being directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car), based on a screenplay by Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley (Vacation reboot) and Jon Watts & Christopher Ford and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers.

The film is produced by Marvel boss Kevin Feige and former Sony boss Amy Pascal. Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Patricia Whitcher, Jeremy Latcham, and Stan Lee are serving as Executive Producers.
