It was nice to see Deadpool nominated for some Golden Globe awards, but Ryan Reynolds wasn't able to take home the night's top acting prize.
The actor was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role - Musical or Comedy for his take on the loud-mouthed Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool.
Unfortunately, Ryan Gosling took home the hardware instead. While comic fans may have been rooting for Reynolds to win the award, Gosling did put in one incredible performance in La La Land.
Reynolds might not have won the Golden Globe tonight, but his work on Deadpool will never be forgotten in the world of comic adaptations. The actor turned into a producer to make this movie happen, after everyone cringed at the take on the character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
For years, Reynolds has been working to make Deadpool come to life in a way that would please longtime fans of the character - and he's done just that. Not only was Deadpool an incredible success, but it got awards recognition at the Golden Globes. Many comic movies could only dream of that kind of critical praise.
Well done, Ryan Reynolds.
