Black Panther: Chadwick Boseman Reveals He Fought Director Ryan Coogler on Set

How do you keep stars amped-up on the set of a demanding action film? If you're Black Panther director Ryan Coogler you physically spar with the film's star, Chadwick Boseman.

Following his appearance at Marvel Studio's Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con last weekend, Boseman told Vulture about Coogler's inspiring, if unorthodox, take on directing the upcoming film.

"He'll come to your trailer and grab you. He's very hands-on. He likes to be physical and be part of it," Boseman said. "In some fight scenes, if he feels like you need your energy to get up, he'll get in there to spar with you before you start. We throwin' punches and kicks at each other."

But who would win in these director-star brawls?

"We're not gonna talk about what happened," Boseman said. "That's between us."

Black Panther is set to premiere February 16, 2018.
