Marvel's The Defenders hits Netflix on Friday and audiences will finally get to see how Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Danny Rand come together to form a team. Ahead of the premiere of the series, however, Daredevil actor Charlie Cox shares what he thinks everybody's role on the team is.

Speaking with Den of Geek, Cox explained how he sees the experiences and personalities of each of the characters coming together, specifically how on the team, the four characters almost subdivide into matched pairs based on who has direct experience with the Hand and who hasn't. Yet.

Danny and Matt already have already faced the Hand in their own stories and Cox said that personalizes things for them.

"[So] the story for them is already personal. When we get to the point where we realize as a group that the Hand are involved, and we don't know what's going on exactly, but we know what's going on, it's up to Danny and Matt to explain who these people are to the other two, because they've never even heard of them," Cox said.

And what about Jessica and Luke? Cox explains that they have to come to understand that everything is really happening and that journey makes the story great.

"And then Jessica and Luke, the flip side of that is they're the ones that have to go on the journey of disbelief through to 'holy shit,' and getting on board this... if someone says there's an ancient evil organization who are capable of destroying an entire civilization, it's very easy for someone like Jessica Jones to say 'Okay good luck with that. I don't believe you or have any interest in being part of that.' So... obviously there's a great story in The Defenders."

Marvel's The Defenders follows Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.
