If you're a fan of superheroes, and you've seen District 9, you've probably wondered if Neill Blomkamp would ever do a comic book movie. With his unique style and blockbuster experience, it's no doubt he'd be a good fit for the genre. And now we know which property he'd like to bring to life.
A fan reached out to Blomkamp on Twitter to ask him this very question, specifically in relation to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With a response you might not have expected, Blomkamp revealed that he'd love to make an Iron Man movie.
Hypothetically ... ironman - love the character https://t.co/45oNuh2RRt

The director started out the tweet by saying that this was all hypothetical, since Iron Man has been the cornerstone of the MCU for a number of years. Robert Downey Jr. has starred as the character in three solo films, two Avengers movies (soon to be four), a Captain America adventure, and the latest iteration of Spider-Man. If there's one character that probably won't be getting their own movie anytime soon, it's probably Iron Man.
However, Blomkamp based his answer in the fact that he just has love for the comic character.
Honestly, this wouldn't be the worst fit for Blomkamp's style, as he's done quite a few projects centered around advanced technology and he writes smart enough dialogue to carry the character of Tony Stark.
Currently, Neill Blomkamp is heading up his Oats Studios, where he has been releasing high quality sci-fi films online for free.
