Music is an important part of any film or television series. How a project sounds can tell the story just as much as the setting, the cinematography and even the acting which is why within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, each show has its own unique sound.

Composer Sean Callery, who composed Jessica Jones' Emmy-winning theme and is currently doing music for the upcoming The Inhumans, spoke with Variety about creating the unique sound for one of Marvel's more unique projects.

Callery revealed that because of the large scope of The Inhumans, both as being a story about a super-powered race based on the moon and because of the show's IMAX debut the music had to be done big, too, and that meant a 68-piece orchestra and almost 70 minutes of music just for the first two episodes.

"It takes place across two planetary bodies, and there are more than half a dozen characters with superhuman abilities," Callery explained before elaborating on how that set up impacts the music.

"It's a big production with a lot of characters and a sense of adventure," Callery said. "This is the most thematic I've been with any show I've worked on. At its core, it's about a royal family, so there are some grand themes for the kingdom and the family."

Audiences will get to see how those grand themes help tell the royal family's stories when Marvel's The Inhumans premieres September 1st in IMAX theaters followed by its television debut beginning September 29th on ABC.

In Marvel's Inhumans, after the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.
