An industry source is behind the Daily Record’s exclusive as the UK site was given a scoop about Avengers 4. “A second Avengers film is pencilled in for filming in Scotland in 2018,” the source said. “People have been put on standby for another movie next year.”
The site says the franchise’s A-list cast will be back next year to work on the Avengers sequel. Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Bettany were seen filming in Scotland earlier this year for Avengers: Infinity War.
As for when filming will start, the Daily Record says the stars won’t convene until next summer.
“It won’t be until July because the Infinity War premiere is around May and all the cast will be tied up doing promo for that for a month,” the source explained. “It’s exciting news that people behind something as big as Avengers want to come back to shoot another film here. This is a fantastic boost for the Scottish film industry.”
If you are not familiar with Marvel’s interest in Scotland, then you should know the country hosted plenty of filming for Avengers: Infinity War. The area has been a home away from home for the film’s crew as its first port is located in Atlanta. A slew of scenes were filmed in Scotland, and it looks like the movie’s need for the locale will bleed into Avengers 4.
For now, fans can only wait and see how Scotland will be used in Avengers: Infinity War before speculation about the shooting location will tie into Avengers 4. The sequel began production last month down in Atlanta, and it looks like shooting will go on for some time. The cast and crew will need to break next spring to promote the first-half of the Avengers venture, but filming should be done by next fall. After all, Avengers 4 is slated to premiere in May 2019; Marvel Studios won't want to keep fans waiting for too long.
Avengers: Infinity War premieres in theaters on November 3.
