Nick Fury helped bring the Avengers together and has served as a major part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in its almost ten year history, but it appeared as though the super spy (played by Samuel L. Jackson) would be sitting out Marvel Studios' upcoming one-two punch of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4.
But now an Atlanta casting call for body doubles to work on Avengers 4 seems to confirm Jackson for the superhero blockbuster. Posted by AJC, the casting call is for a man who "looks African-American," is "age 30s to 50s, from 6'2" to 6'4" and had a chest size of 38 to 40."
The applicant will "need to be bald and must have a goatee or have facial hair that you're willing to cut into a goatee to match the actor."
The description brings to mind Samuel L. Jackson's Fury, a character who has yet to be officially confirmed by Marvel for either of the upcoming Avengers productions. Fury was also left out of the Avengers: Infinity War connective poster released at San Diego Comic Con, but the iconic master spy will take part in Captain Marvel, a cosmic adventure set in the 1990s.
Fury has taken more of a backseat in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since his major supporting role in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, appearing only briefly in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron since. He was left out of Captain America: Civil War entirely, and it seems unlikely he'll be popping up over in Marvel Studios' forthcoming release, Thor: Ragnarok.
Still, Fury could be poised to make his big comeback in 2019: appearances in Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 would surely satiate fans who have been longing to see more of the former S.H.I.E.L.D. director.
With so many heroes set to join the massive fight against Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Infinity War, we made up a handy list to keep track of everyone who's in and who's out.
Avengers: Infinity War drops May 4, 2018. The currently untitled Avengers 4 arrives May 3, 2019.
