Zendaya is voicing her support for NFL athletes taking a knee to protest the national anthem.

The Spider-Man: Homecoming star posted photos to Twitter today showing athletes -- including Colin Kapernick and Oakland Athletics' catcher Bruce Maxwell -- kneeling during the national anthem. The post was simply captioned "#TakeTheKnee."

The "take the knee" gesture and hashtag in the tweet is in reference to a movement started by Colin Kapernick who knelt during a performance of the National Anthem during an NFL game in August last year and following comments from President Donald Trump earlier this week that NFL players who chose to protest the national anthem by taking a knee should be fired, athletes and celebrities responded by joining in on the protest, bringing more attention to the "Take The Knee Movement."

Tweeting support for the protest isn't the first time Zendaya has spoken out about racial injustice and similar issues on social media. In 2015 the actress took to Instagram to respond to Giuliana Rancic's comments that Zendaya's dreadlocks at the 2015 Oscars "must smell of patchouli oil or weed." Zendaya has also shown her support for the Black Lives Matter movement, frequently writing about the movement on Twitter.

And the Spider-Man: Homecoming star isn't the only figure from the comic book world showing their support for "Take the Knee." 'Batman: The Black Mirror' artist Francesco Francavilla tweeted a drawing of Batman "taking the knee" in support of the movement as well.
