Hela Kills [SPOILER] in 'Thor: Ragnarok'

Marvel fans will get to take another journey into Asgard this week when Thor: Ragnarok opens in theaters, but don't expect a friend visit.

Though the new film is heralded as the funniest movie in the franchise yet, it's also filled with some dark moments raising the stakes to an unprecedented level. New villain Hela (Cate Blanchett) makes her mark early on, when she easily kills some fan-favorite characters.

Warning: Major spoilers for Thor: Ragnarok follow.

Hela first appears looking for Odin, resulting in a brief battle with Thor and Loki on Earth, during which she easily destroys Mjolnir. Loki calls for an exit via the Bifrost, of which Skurge (Karl Urban) is now operating due to Heimdall (Idris Elba) being declared a traitor to the throne (by Loki, because Loki is bad and Heimdall knows it).

But Skurge isn't alone at the Bifrost, he's joined by two of the Warriors Three with Volstagg (Ray Stevenson) and Fandral (Zachary Levi) waiting the return of Odin's children.

But during the Bifrost travel, Hela knocks both Loki and Thor out of the rainbow blast, sending them both tumbling to Sakaar. When Hela arrives, Volstagg and Fandral both draw arms and ask who she is; Skurge, who is mopping the floor from a previous incident, hangs back for a moment.

Hela immediately kills Volstagg and Fandral without much effort, tossing blades into their guts. She then beckons Skurge to her aid, offering a place at her side as the new queen of Asgard.

Later, she appears in a courtyard on Asgard, surrounded by soldiers who are led by Hogun (Tadanobu Asano), the last surviving member of the Warriors Three. She tosses him aside and quickly murders everyone in her way, again without breaking a sweat.

Hogun gets to his feet and attempts to make one last stand, despite the unbeatable threat before him. Hela rewards his bravery with a quick sword to the gut, impaling him among the rest of the dead.

It's a quick and sad end for the Warriors Three, who featured in all three Thor movies to varying degrees. Though some fans might be upset at their demise or the way they went down, it truly ups the stakes in the battle of Asgard and Thor's attempts to rescue his home.
