Batman actor Ben Affleck appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to talk about his reprisal as the dark knight in Justice League. During the exchange, he shared a story about auditioning for Robin alongside Damon years ago, and while neither of them got the part, Affleck went on to become Batman. Kimmel couldn't pass up the opportunity to put Damon down and delivered a zinger.
"That's so sad though in a way that you went on to become Batman," Kimmel said. "Not only didn't he get to become Robin, he's like begging for little bit parts in Thor. He's like Loki Jr. in Thor."
As most know, Damon appeared in Ragnarok towards the beginning of the film. Early on Loki puts on a play in Asgard, recreating the character's "death" in Thor: The Dark World. He has actors playing all the parts, but the part of Loki is especially notable since it is Matt Damon, giving his all to bring the part of a dying Loki to life on the stage.
When Affleck said this is an up and down business, Kimmel pounced, saying "he is down, down, down!"
It was truly a surprising cameo, as it managed not to leak before the film debuted in theaters. That is a rare feat these days, and you could hear audiences all come to the sudden realization at the same time.
As for Affleck, he is busy promoting Justice League, which, at least to current knowledge, does not have any such cameo from Damon. Who knows though, maybe this isn't the last fans have seen of Damon in superhero universes, so make sure to keep an eye out!
