Marvel fans were given a peak behind the curtain in Vanity Fair's new profile of the MCU, offering some new details about the upcoming crossover film.

One of the new photographs revealed the brand new costume for Thor in Avengers: Infinity War, complete with his short hair.

But some fans who are worried that the God of Thunder can grow a new eyeball quicker than his hair, don't worry. Based on the footage for Avengers: Infinity War released at Disney's D23 Expo and San Diego Comic-Con, it appears most of that will be handled in post-production for the 'finale' of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The new costume appears to combine the looks of Oliver Coipel's design, one of the most iconic looks for Thor in recent years and a building block for many of his appearances on screen, with some of the color schemes from the Esad Ribic costume from Thor: God of Thunder.

Thor's costume has typically included sleeves in the solo films, with the material appearing almost metallic. But of course the warm climate of Midgard requires a different approach, with Thor going sleeveless in Marvel's The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

In Thor: Ragnarok, actor Chris Hemsworth adopts that sleeveless look once again, basically flipping the arbitrary pattern for his costumes in the Marvel Studios productions.

Thor's appearance is hardly the most groundbreaking development in the saga for Avengers: Infinity War, but it is an interesting new look for the character, perhaps bracing for dark developments in the Asgardian's future.

With their homeworld destroyed and its people marooned on a large transport ship about to be threatened for Thanos, the new King of Asgard could be facing one of his toughest tests yet.

Plus, his current costume is probably a little bit stinky after his jaunt to Sakaar, so a fresh new look might be just what the God of Thunder needs for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Avengers: Infinity War premieres in theaters on May 4, 2018.
