Sometimes the holidays just don't go as planned. That's what the cast of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD found out in their New Year's video greeting.

In the video shared by the show's official Twitter account, the cast wishes fans a Happy New Year, a sentiment that was supposed to be capped off with a festive balloon drop and confetti. However, when Iain De Caestecker (Leo Fitz) hits the button to release the balloons, things don't quite work as expected. You can check out the greeting below.

As you can see, the balloons don't fall quite as expected and the expression on Ming-Na Wen (Melinda May) sums up the anti-climactic moment before everyone laughs at the imperfect celebratory greeting.

While the cast may be celebrating the new year, their characters on the ABC series doesn't have a lot to be happy about this season. This season, the team is not only no longer on Earth, but it turns out that Earth -- or at least one version of it -- had been destroyed by none other than Daisy/Quake and the team had been forced into the time-travel monolith and sent decades into the future. And if that wasn't enough, it's revealed that Fitz not only didn't make the trip to the future the easy way with the rest of the team, but now he's shown up, demanding that a captive Daisy fight to the death.

Marvel Agents of SHIELD returns to ABC on January 6, 2018.
