The Marvel Cinematic Universe is no stranger to an outpouring of love amongst fans. But now, the stars of the latest two MCU features have received a bit of critical acclaim as well.

Thor Ragnarok's Tessa Thompson and Black Panther's Daniel Kaluuya are among the nominees for this year's BAFTA EE Rising Star Award, which were officially announced earlier today. Also in contention are Call Me By Your Name star Timothee Chalamet, Florence Pugh, and Josh O'Connor.

Ragnarok helped Thompson become a household name over the course of 2017, with plenty of fans falling in love with the actress' incarnation of the Valkyrie. The tweet about Thompson's nomination highlights this, as well as her 2017 work in Jay-Z's "Moonlight" music video.

And while Kaluuya's official MCU debut as W'Kabi is still a month away, it's safe to say that the actor had a pretty big 2017. Back in February, Kaluuya starred in Get Out, which has been met with a slew of critical and fan love in the time since.

This year's batch of nominees aren't the only ones to include comic book movie actors. Back in 2016, Kingsman's Taron Egerton and Star Wars' John Boyega were nominated for the award, with the latter ending up winning the prize. A similar sort of thing happened last year as well, with Preacher star Ruth Negga being nominated for the award, and Spider-Man Homecoming's Tom Holland taking home the trophy in a pretty awesome way.

The BAFTA EE Rising Star Award will be voted on by the general public, and the winner will be announced on February 7th, 2018.
