Comic writer Mark Millar has had good luck bringing his stories to the big screen. No, like really good luck. By partnering with some great directors - particularly Matthew Vaughn - many of Millar's creations have gone on to earn big box office returns, and solid critical acclaim. Films like Captain America: Civil War, Kick-Ass, Kingsman: Secret Service, Logan, and Wanted have all come from the pages of Millar's books.
With that kind of success, it's no surprise that studios are aiming to bring more of the writer's stories to life. Chrononauts, Millar's celebrated mini-series, is next on the list, and the project has now found a writer.
Universal pictures has tapped playwright/screenwriter Philip Gawthorne to adapt the time-travelling series. Fate of the Furious writer Chris Morgan is producing the film, while Millar - along with co-creator Sean Gordon Murphy - will executive produce.
Chrononauts tells the story of two scientist friends, who embark on the very first time-travel experiment. The two main characters are a ton of fun, and Millar initially had two of Hollywood's most lovable guys in mind for the leads.
Re Chrononauts casting - Back before it was a comic my pal at Universal asked me if I could come up with something for Pratt & Hemsworth.

While this idea would be awesome, it's probably out of reach at this point. Both Hemsworth and Pratt are deep into their careers with Marvel, and likely wouldn't have time for a time-travelling adventure.
On the flip-side though, it would be the perfect line-up for Chrononauts.
