When the Kingsman look to their American counterparts for help, Jeff Bridges' Agent Champagne will be one of those to answer the call.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle is the highly anticipated sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service, in which we find Agent Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and his fellow Kingsman targeted for extermination by the nefarious villain, Poppy (Julianne Moore). When the Kingsman find their organization (literally) blown to pieces, Eggsy and Merlin (Mark Strong) turn to the Statesman, the American version of The Kingsman.
The Statesman will be played by a lineup of high-profile actors like Channing Tatum and Halle Berry, but one of the most fun-looking characters is no doubt Agent Champagne. ComicBook.com had a chance to sit down with the cast of Kingsman: The Golden Circle at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 and learn more about their characters in the film - including hearing from Jeff Bridges about his bubbly Statesman agent.
Who Is Agent Champagne
In Kingsman: the Golden Circle, Bridges seems to be doing a send up of his Rooster Cogburn character in True Grit. Agent Champagne is, of course, a lot more lively and animated than Cogburn ever was with a few good hat tricks up his sleeve. And according to Bridges:
"Well, I'm the head of an organization called Statesman - it's kind of an American version of The Kingsman - and Channing [Tatum] plays Tequila. My name's 'Champagne'; we're all named out of different boozes, and Channing is one of my main guys."
Bridges was careful about giving away any spoilers, but there is a moment in the Kingsman: The Golden Circle trailers (watch above) which suggests that Champagne's cowboy hat my not just be for fashion - could there be a James Bond-style twist that makes it a formidable weapon?
We'll find out more when Kingsman: The Golden Circle hits theaters on September 22nd.
