Geek filmmaker Kevin Smith presided over a marriage today on the upper level of a double-decker New York City tour bus.

Smith, an ordained minister through the Universal Life Church, is no stranger to fan weddings -- there was even another couple on the bus who were celebrating their honeymoon after being married by Smith in Australia -- but to do so on a double-decker bus among the backdrop of the convention was a pretty unique experience.

"I do suggest you do it officially in front of relatives and loved ones," Smith told the couple, named Tony and Sharon. "But for now, this will be awesome. If I don't get hit by a [traffic] light, it'll all be good."

The bus ride was to promote the upcoming season of Comic Book Men, which debuts Sunday on AMC following new episodes of The Walking Dead and Talking Dead.

Smith discussed his film and TV projects, as well as the process of discovering his love for comics -- as well as, obviously, talking about his philosophy on marriage.

The happy couple, though, wasn't planned; when Smith opened the floor to fans for a Q&A session, the first question came from Tony, who asked Smith if he would marry them.

The event was recorded for an upcoming episode of Smodcast.
