For the first time since the announcement of FOX's Prison Break event miniseries, one of the show's stars has opened up about just how Wentworth Miller's Michael will appear on the show in the first place.

When we last saw the brothers, it was presumed that Michael was dead -- but it turns out that's not so much the case, and instead, they'll be taking on a storyline that's very much "ripped from the headlines."

"It's tying into what's going on in the world today with terrorism," Miller's co-star Dominic Purcell told Deadline in an interview. "The show is taking place in Yemen; we're dealing with ISIS and ISA, and obviously we left off with Michael presumably dead. He wasn't, he ended up working for this organization. It got to the point where he couldn't do it anymore, and they threw him in a jail in Yemen to change his mind. He didn't change his mind, they set him up."

This leads to a few notable things, actually; Purcell, who recently suffered a serious head injury on the set of the series, revealed that the injury happened when his character, Lincoln, was trying to help Michael escape from prison in Yemen. That gives us both the titular "prison break" and an insight into what happened when Purcell was injured, as an iron bar that was apparently part of the prison set fell from above and landed on his head.

According to the interview, Purcell's injuries will be incorporated into one or two of the season's later episodes.

Prison Break heads to FOX in the spring of 2017.
