The next World War Z movie is shooting for a big time director, and big time reunion between director and star, according to Variety. Brad Pitt, who has worked with David Fincher in Se7en, Fight Club, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, is pushing hard for the director to join the project. Pitt will both star in and produce the World War Z sequel, and Paramount and Skydance are looking to start shooting early next year.

The report comes from sources, with no confirmation from Paramount, but notes that after an initial talk about two weeks ago, things have progressed and no other directors are currently in consideration for the film.

The movie had originally signed director Juan Antonio Bayona, who left the film in January to instead work on a sequel to 2015's hit Jurassic World. While Paramount hasn't officially delayed the film off a June 9, 2017 release date, with no director or official production schedule set, that is likely to be pushed back. The World War Z would cover new ground not seen in Max Brooks' original novel that was loosely adapted for the first.
