Harry Potter Fans Duel It Out Over J.K. Rowling Albus Potter Tweet

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling sent her fans into a whirl of confusion on Thursday with a tweet about Hogwarts being back in school.

According to J.K. Rowling, today marked the first day of school at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy for Harry Potter's son, Albus Severus. Or rather, she thought today was supposed to be his first day.

In a since-deleted post, Rowling tweeted: "If you're at King's Cross, the Potter, Granger-Weasley and Malfoy families are there too. Albus Severus starts school today. #19YearsLater."

The #19YearsLater hashtag is in reference to the script based on the play by Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The story was supposed to be set 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts where Harry defeated Voldemort.

Fans were thoroughly perplexed when they tried to calculate when exactly the Battle of Hogwarts occurred in the story. Many a heated discussion took place on social media regarding the tweet, but Rowling finally put their minds at ease by admitting she had made a mistake. She wrote, "I got the year wrong: blame #CursedChild! In my head it's already 19 years later! #BackToHogwarts."

While Rowling fessed up to the error, some Harry Potter fans were not convinced by Rowling's tweet, and maintained that Albus Severus would be starting school this year.

@jk_rowling well didn't the battle at Hogwarts take place en 1997? Then 19 years later must be 2016, or have I been misinformed?

@cuthpayne the Battle of Hogwarts was on 2/5/1998, 19 years later is 2/5/2017.. So Albus Severus' first school year is 2017-2018
