Even though it was reported in August 2015, a new video has been released officially announcing that original series composer Angelo Badalamenti is returning for Showtime's revival of Twin Peaks. It features the award-winning composer, who is playing the show's haunting and beautiful theme, and the iconic image of Laura Palmer superimposed over a heavily-wooded forest.

"Badalamenti has written some of the most unique film scores of our time," reads the video's description. "He is widely known for his long-standing collaboration with Twin Peaks director David Lynch, which has produced a creative and inspired body of work. In addition to receiving the Grammy Award for the theme music of the original series, the 'Soundtrack Album from Twin Peaks' achieved gold status in 25 countries. Badalamenti has also received three Emmy Award nominations for the original series, as well as Golden Globe nominations for films The Straight Story and Mulholland Drive."

The Golden Globe and Peabody Award-winning Twin Peaks returns as a new limited series. Considered one of the most groundbreaking and influential broadcast series of all time, Twin Peaks followed the residents of a quaint northwestern town who were stunned when homecoming queen Laura Palmer was murdered. Twenty-five years later, the story continues... Expect many familiar faces, including Kyle MacLachlan, reprising his role as FBI Agent Dale Cooper.

The new Twin Peaks is written and produced by series creators David Lynch and Mark Frost. The series is directed entirely by David Lynch.

It will premiere on Showtime in 2017, on-air, on demand and over the internet.
