Nostalgic fans of the early-1990s teen action-adventure gameshow Legends of the Hidden Temple have their calendars marked for mid-November when the show returns in movie form.

Speaking at the New York Comic Con event, the stars of the film said that many of the original elements of the 120-episode run will be involved in the movie. Kirk Fogg, the former host of the program, said that the entire project - while clearly not a gameshow - was geared to stay in-tune with its canon.

"To be honest, the movie came out of left field," Fogg said. "Everyone kept asking, 'why dont they bring back the game show, why dont they bring back the game show,' but really this was one of the few gameshows that could get adapated.

"We all were so intenet on making sure that we were getting everything right. I was able to come in and make sure that all the details are right. I could give suggestions and the crew would talk and make sure that we all came together to get it right. It felt like when I came in when we shot that first day in Canada that the crew viewed it as a way to help legitimize the project."

The Nickelodeon film is built around three siblings who break away from their family temple tour. Now lost in the jungle, they find themselves immersed in a real-life mission comprised of obstacles -- which will look familiar to the game -- that they must complete in order to escape alive.

Keeping with the original contest, the kids will go through the temple and encounter animals that will have computer generated colors to represent their run of show.

Jet Jurgensmeyer, who plays Dudley, and said that most of the movie is very real.

"They had to computerize the colors because you can't dye an animal colors," he said. "They had to CGI green for the monkeys and red for the jaguars and we had to CGI all of the baracudas not just their colors because we had to go into the water and they didn't want us to be met with 1000 teeth."

Jurgnesmeyer is no strangers to the screen. His first imdb credit is from Redemption Road in 2010 and includes roles in The Little Rascals and American Sniper. He also voiced Nonny on the kid's show, Bubble Guppies.

He said that his character has a special power in the movie, being able to talk to animals -- except for the Silver Snakes -- and that the time with the crew was a quickly-bonded family.

"When I first did my chemistry read with Coltin (Critchley who plays Noah), I told him, 'oh, this right here is going to work," Jurgensmeyer said. "Then when I read with Isabela (Moner playing Sadie) in New York it was the same. She was great. And she was the only one brave enough to hold the snake when they brought it to the set."

Critchley said that his time with the film was a great opportunity for him.

After several smaller roles, this could be a potential breakout for the young man.

"When I first found out I booked the movie I was so excited," he said. "I wouldn't be able to sleep and would sneak onto the internet at like two in the morning and watch the re-runs. I was doing everything I could to learn about the show, the host, the challenges, everthing."

Fogg added that for fans it will not just be a chance to re-watch a show he helped popularize, it is a fresh take on the classic.

"What was very strange is you get on this giant set and then meet the kids and they recreated the same energy the same everything," he said. "There was that same passion. When the show ran, we were all rooting for them to make it. This film has every bit of that.

"I think that whether you always wanted to run the temple yourself or are just going to see the film with your kids, there is that want. That you want the kids in the movie to succeed just like you did when you watched the show."

The Legends of the Hidden Temple premieres on Nickelodeon on November 26.
