Nightmare Before Christmas Returns to Theaters

The Nightmare Before Christmas is regarded as one of Tim Burton's most treasured classics, and soon fans will once again be able to see the beloved animated film on the big screen.

The original film came out in 1993, but in celebration of Jack Skellington and company's 23rd anniversary, and of course Halloween, the movie will be brought back to Regal theaters (via Alt Press). You can head to Regal's website to plug in your zip code and see where the film will be showing near you on October 28th.

Not content to leave anyone out, for those who will be celebrating the holiday season over at Disneyland this year, you'll have a chance to see the popular Haunted Mansion decorated in Nightmare Before Christmas style. This year the gingerbread house will be themed after Sally's house from the movie, and associate art director for Disney Parks Tim Wollweber described what the new addition will look like.

"The whole structure has been cobbled and stitched together from other different gingerbread houses and treats. But it appears that sometime during the house's construction, a gingerbread ghoul was entombed! Apparently, he's eager to sew himself up inside—much like another mansion graveyard ghoul you've probably seen."

Fans of the original film will have plenty to enjoy this season, and that's a good thing since there isn't likely to be a sequel for some time. Burton has shot down previous attempts to get one made, saying: "I was always very protective of [Nightmare] not to do sequels or things of that kind," Burton explained. "You know, 'Jack visits Thanksgiving world' or other kinds of things just because I felt the movie had a purity to it and the people that like it."

The film follows the misadventures of Jack Skellington, Halloweentown's beloved pumpkin king, who has become bored with the same annual routine of frightening people in the "real world." When Jack accidentally stumbles on Christmastown, all bright colors and warm spirits, he gets a new lease on life - he plots to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over the role. But Jack soon discovers even the best-laid plans of mice and skeleton men can go seriously awry.
