UFC: Audio From Ronda Rousey's Corner Might Show Why She Lost

After the quick and tragic defeat of Ronda Rousey at UFC 207, many people are wondering what happened to the fighter that made this challenge go south so quickly. Audio from Rousey's corner of the Octagon, as well as previous comments about her coach's style of fighting might just answer that question.

In the ring during UFC 207, Rousey was completely knocked out in around 48 seconds. Amanda Nunes won via TKO after barely being hit by the former Bronze Medal Olympian. Many are suspecting that this TKO was a result of Rousey not using her strengths in the ring, and audio from her coach seems to support that.

"Make her miss!" Tarverdyan yells from the sidelines. He also shouts "head movement" and "hands up" at the fighter. Once Nunes starts hitting Rousey in the head with a few hard punches, Tarverdyan is heard saying "move, please!" Then, in the end, there is nothing but him screaming "No!" multiple times.

It seems that Tarverdyan's plan for Rousey was to get her to keep moving and blocking the throws from her opponent. This strategy is usually one that works well with boxers, which Rousey is not. Many people, including Nunes, believe that this was the downfall of Rousey during UFC 207 – she was trying to fight like a boxer and not a judo fighter.

"She thinks she is a boxer," Nunes said after the fight. "[Tarverdyan] put this thing in her head, and make the girl believe in that. I don't know why he did that. She had great judo. She could've gone more forward in this division, but he put that crazy thing about boxing in there, and her career started going down."

Needless to say, if Rousey ever chooses to return to the Octagon, she needs to remember what her strengths are when it comes to fighting. She is better at winning by submission then she ever will be at winning through boxing.
