Just because you write Mighty Morphin Power Rangers doesn't mean it is your only favorite season, and you might be surprised at which ones made the cut.
BOOM! Studios successful Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic series is written by Kyle Higgins. Now, Higgins is a self-professed Power Rangers fan and shows it in how he handles the team. That said, he does have other favorites.
"In Space. SPD. RPM." said Higgins, who was asked what his favorite season outside of Mighty Morphin was. All are inspired choices, but In Space is particularly popular. When asked about Jungle Fury Higgins said "Really like the concept. LOVE the uniforms."
When confronted with his lack of Time Force love, he quickly addressed it. "GAHHHH! I JUST re-watched recaps of that! LOVE that season and what @ErinJ_Cahill did."

As for what is canon and what is not, Higgins clarified a bit. "It's in continuity. More or less. We're, like, a remix," said Higgins when asked if Power Rangers was no longer in continuity with the show. This might be why when asked if he plans to do a Green Candle story in the comics to get Tommy into his White Ranger phase he answered coyly. "Who says he becomes the White Ranger? ;)."
Higgins is on board with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers until issue #30, and starting in issue #20 he will be adding his own piece to the Power Rangers canon. Higgins is introducing fans to a new team of Power Rangers, but these Rangers aren't in the future, but the past.
The story will take the Rangers back to the 1960's, where a mysterious team of Rangers stopped a secret plan to destroy the Moon. Rita is pretty much immortal, so it could still be her at the center of things, especially considering her headquarters itself is on the moon. Perhaps fans will find out how the Moon Palace got there in the first place?
Who knows, but the possibilities are intriguing, to say the least.
