While he was wearing a different costume, Power Rangers fans might have noticed a familiar face amongst the crew of Star Trek: Discovery.

That face belongs to Chris Violette, who played the role of the Blue Ranger Sky Tate in Power Rangers S.P.D. (via Henshin Justice). Violette isn't actually a member of the Discovery, at least not yet. The first ship that appears in the initial episode of Discovery is the USS Shenzhou, and Violette can be seen monitoring the bridge on the sleek ship as Bridge Officer Britch Weeton.

Spoilers incoming for Star Trek: Discovery, so if you haven't seen the episode yet you've been warned.

Weeton's fate isn't yet known going forward, as by episode's end the USS Shenzhou has taken heavy damage and is essentially a giant paperweight floating in space. Not only that, but the crew itself sustained multiple casualties, though Weeton isn't referred to as one of the fallen. Thing is, he isn't mentioned as alive either, so fans will have to wait to see the next episode for more information.

Whether it is just for this episode or for the rest of the season, Power Rangers fans still enjoyed seeing Violette on the screen, but hopefully, this isn't the last they will see of him. You can find out more about the Star Trek: Discovery premiere here.

If he does return, it seems he might've found another hit series. The Star Trek: Discovery premiere was viewed by around 8.2 million people on CBS and the CBS All Access App. It also earned an impressive 1.6 in the key demo, something going forward CBS hopes will drive subscribers to their All Access service.

As for Violette, he played the role of the Blue Ranger through all 38 episodes of Power Rangers S.P.D., though he also took on the role of Team Leader as the Red Ranger later on. The character would once again return in the Legendary Battle episode of Super Megaforce.

The Power Rangers 25th anniversary is coming up next year, and as with many of the previous Rangers, the door is open to a return from Violette to celebrate the big occasion. Hopefully, fans will find out more about the big event later this year.
