Both versions of Tommy Oliver come courtesy of the talented Jose David Rivera Maldonado, who went above and beyond for both suits. The first was created last year and is based on the Super Power Beat Down suit that Jason David Frank wore in his fight against Ryu. The suit featured modern gold lines on the sides of the suit, with golden accents on the shoulders and gauntlets as well, though Maldonado made some additional enhancements.
He redesigned the Dragon Shield substantially, adding a multilayered design and embellishments on the chest logo. He also added more plating to the gauntlets and boots and added some shinier material to give certain parts of the suit a green glow-like effect. The result is extremely impressive as you can see in the photos, which were taken by Victorieux Photography.
The thing is, his White Ranger might be even better.
The White Ranger suit was completed in 2015 and gives the popular costume a significant modern updated. The chest plate has been reworked, with a three-layered approach as opposed to the one-piece armor that Tommy originally wore. The suit underneath is actually a darker gray, with white armor plating laid overtop. This is also applied to the legs and armors, with gold plating on the shoulders, boots, and gauntlets.
You can have a White Ranger without Saba, and the popular talking sword also got an upgrade, appearing much bigger than the original version in the show. All in all the suit gives off more of a military vibe than the previous armor, and the photos by Golden Imagery Photography show off just how slick this costume really is.
