Back when Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was first announced, fans couldn't help but wonder if a certain Sith would make an appearance.

Fans will get their wish, as Darth Vader has been confirmed for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (via EW.com). How he will fit into the plot alongside Director Krennic (played by Ben Mendelsohn) remains to be seen, but having Vader in the film just gives the film an intensity that only he can deliver.

The Empire isn't playing around this time either and are employing new slimmer walkers called AT-ACTs, and a new type of TIE fighter known as a TIE Striker. Though really, if we're being honest, they should just really invest in laser sights. Having all this cool technology at your disposal doesn't do much when you can't hit anything.

Rogue One finally gives fans the origin of the Death Star's demise, one that we've only seen in sprawling text all these years.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theatres on December, 16th.
