Star Wars Battlefront continues to introduce new content into the popular game, but the newest addition is one that should make a variety of players very happy.

On EA's Star Wars blog, the publisher announced a new mode called Skirmish, which is the game's first offline mode. You can play by yourself with bots or with a friend via couch co-op, and this new mode will work with both Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron.

Star Wars Battlefront was bereft of any single player options, and while DICE didn't hide that fact, many believed the $60 asking price just wasn't in line with the content that was delivered in the final product, and that included any semblance of a single-player mode.

Granted, this is a far cry from any sort of story campaign, but it does add some much-needed replay value. The other big addition is the third expansion pack, titled Death Star. The empire's most intimidating weapon will be the star here, with new ground and space maps, as well as weapons and star cards. You'll also have access to two new heroes, but their identities haven't been revealed yet.

Skirmish mode debuts on July 21st, while the Death Star DLC doesn't have a specific release date yet. Players will get a chance to see the new DLC on July 16th during the Star Wars Celebration Europe livestream.
