The Tamashii Nations "Star Wars Movie Realization" line of figures increases by one with the Stormtrooper Archer in March 2017, as the company continues to explore what the Star Wars universe of characters would look like if they existed in the Samurai realm that the films are so heavily influenced by. George Lucas and some of his successors like Star Wars Rebels showrunner Dave Filoni have frequently cited the work of Akira Kurosawa and the stories of Japanese Samurai as major influences on Star Wars, and Tamashii's figures help bring that full circle.
After releasing other troop-builders and a dark samurai Darth Vader, Tamashii moves to the Archer edition of the Stormtrooper. With a stylized version of the Imperial symbol on his chest plate, the Stormtrooper Archer wields both a sword and a fold-up bow, complete with separate arrows and quiver. His armor more closely resembles a Samurai warrior, though he's still undeniably a Stormtrooper, as well; the helmet helps to merge the two designs nicely, and the purely white and black motif shows off the classic footsoldier look well.
Now, the bad news before you look at all the pretty pictures and start to drool: The Stormtrooper Archer, like the rest of the Star Wars Movie Realization line, is a Tamashii Web Shop Exclusive sold only in Japan (running around $85 USD), so if you want this guy, and the rest of the line, you need to make friends with someone in the land of the Rising Sun or contact a local toy import agency.
Still, check out the 'trooper in all his glory here, and start researching importers near you.
