The upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first of several planned spinoffs for the lucrative Disney franchise, and just like Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, is also led by a female lead.

Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the mainline entries, is promoting her new documentary The Eagle Huntress, a project she narrated and executive produced. In the midst of all that, Ridley managed to find some time to have drinks with Rogue One star Felicity Jones, who plays Jyn Erso (via Yahoo). "I'm very excited to see it," Ridley said before volunteering the following, voice rising in excitement. "I had a drink with Felicity a few weeks ago, she's super cool!"

She also compared the lead-up to Force Awakens, which was very secretive, to Rogue One, which has kept some details close to the vest, but has been much more open with characters and locations than Force Awakens.

"It was weird, I've talked so much retrospectively about what was going on [in the lead-up to Force Awakens]. It was so odd to be reliving it. And she gets to go talk about this film that she's part of in all these amazing places. I feel like 'jealous' is the wrong word, but I had such a good time in the run-up to the film, and it was all so exciting. Knowing that she's experiencing that is so great. Plus the film's meant to be amazing, so it's a fantastic continuation of the Star Wars world."

There have been rumors that the two characters are somehow related, but Ridley doesn't see a need to worry about all that, and just wants to enjoy the film.

"I don't know. That'll be interesting when I see [Rogue One]. But I don't watch things and think in that way. So I think I'm just gonna watch it and be blown away."

Ridley couldn't be happier for Jones and doesn't feel the need to give her any advice.

"Oh God, I didn't give her tips," she said. "She's like a proper human being. She's got everything nailed… We just talked about our filmmaking experiences. And I've been a huge fan of hers for a long time. Have you ever met her? She's so great. So just to chill was really nice."

Ridley will reprise her role as Rey in Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is set to land in theaters on

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16.
