Phil Lord and Christopher Miller's upcoming Han Solo: A Star Wars Story is starting to build it's cast, but more details are also starting to come out regarding the film's storyline.

Earlier today actor Donald Glover was announced as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming film, a casting that was met with an overwhelmingly positive response. The press released that came with the casting also shed some light on the plot.

"[The Han Solo Star Wars Story movie is] bringing two iconic Star Wars characters back to the big screen, but at a time in their lives previously unexplored. This new film depicts Lando in his formative years as a scoundrel on the rise in the galaxy's underworld — years before the events involving Han, Leia, and Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back and his rise to Rebel hero in Return of the Jedi."

Since the film is going to help fill in the gaps, it makes sense that fans will get to see just how Han obtained the Millennium Falcon in the first place. The ship was originally Lando Calrissian's, and according to THR's Borys Kit, that will figure into the storyline.

"A couple of sources tell me the #HanSolo spin-off will tell how Lando Calrissian lost the Millennium Falcon to Han."

Variety's Justin Kroll added a few additional details to the mix as well regarding the female lead. The casting has been discussed before, and features a number of talented actresses up for the part, including Tessa Thompson (Creed), Naomi Scott (Power Rangers), and Zoe Kravitz (Mad Max: Fury Road). According to Kroll, those three are still in the running.

"As for female lead, still reading girls, Zoe, Naomi and Tessa still i mix as test deals don't end till mid November"

Kroll also shared some details about who else was up for Calrissian alongside Glover.

"Hearing Jason Mitchell and GET DOWN actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen were with DG in second round of tests this past month with Glover landing role"

Details are still scarce, but it looks like the film is really starting to take shape. More details should start to come to the surface after Rogue One: A Star Wars Story releases in theaters in December.

Han Solo: A Star Wars Story is being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and is set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
