The next Star Wars standalone film is shooting now, and Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (not final title) continues to add to its cast as production rolls. Michael K. Williams, best known for his roles as Omar on The Wire and Chalky White on Boardwalk Empire, is in talks for an as-yet-unknown role in the film, the second standalone movie in the Star Wars franchise since Lucasfilm was purchased by Disney, Variety reports.

The actor would join an all-star cast that most recently confirmed the additions of Thandie Newton (herself a recent HBO star) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, though their roles have also not yet been revealed.

Williams had a very active 2016, with roles in The Night Of (alongside fellow Star Wars standalone star Riz Ahmed, who was in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Assassin's Creed, Ghostbusters, and two upcoming/current TV appearances in Hap and Leonard and When We Rise.

Currently, Han Solo sits relatively low on the ComicBook.com anticipation rankings, at #39 overall with a 3.43/5. That's likely due to the secrecy surrounding the film, as very little by way of plot - or even characters - has been revealed, in what's become fairly normal for big franchise films. Han Solo: A Star Wars Story is filming now under directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller for a May 25, 2018 release. Alden Ehrenreich stars as a young Han Solo and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca in the era before Star Wars: A New Hope, before they met Leia and Luke and embarked on a galaxy-saving adventure. Donald Glover also stars as Lando Calrissian, with Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Emilia Clarke in as-yet-unrevealed co-starring roles.
