LEGO Honors Luke Skywalker With Life-Size Figure At SDCC

Fans attending this year's San Diego Comic-Con might be disappointed that Star Wars won't be represented in Hall H, with last weekend's D23 Expo being the opportunity to showcase all sorts of goodies for the upcoming films. The film's cast and crew might not be in attendance at SDCC, but LEGO has helped construct the next best thing, which is a life-size Luke Skywalker, based on his appearance in The Last Jedi.

The statue is being touted as "life-size," but technically, it stands at over six-feet-tall. Mark Hamill, on the other hand, is closer to five-foot-nine. The actor was quick to point out this discrepancy on Twitter.

Despite being taller than the actual Luke Skywalker, the construction is still an impressive accomplishment. According to Yahoo, it took LEGO's master builders 277 hours to design and assemble the statue, requiring over 36,743 bricks to complete.

Luke Skywalker is only one of many life-size statues on display at the convention, which are all viewable on the show floor through Sunday.

To truly see Luke back in action, we'll have to wait until Star Wars: The Last Jedi premieres in theaters on December 15.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the second film in the new Star Wars sequel trilogy that began with Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015. The film will deal with Luke training Rey to become a, and possibly the last, Jedi. Meanwhile, the Resistance, including Poe Dameron and First Order defector Finn, continues to fight against the First Order, led by General Hux, while Supreme Leader Snoke and his Dark Side follower Kylo Ren continue their mysterious plot.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is written and directed by Rian Johnson and stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern, and Kelly Marie Tran.
