New The Last Jedi Toys Reveal Speeders Used at Canto Bight

In a special report about The Last Jedi in Vanity Fair earlier this year, fans got to see our first look at Canto Bight, a lavish gambling city full of colorful characters. In new photos of toys celebrating the upcoming film, we get a glimpse at the authority figures on the planet, as well as the high-speed vehicles they need to keep order around the wealthy.

As can be seen in the packaging, these figures are the "Canto Bight Police" and the vehicle is referred to as the "Canto Bight Police Speeder."

The vehicles don't look much like the speeder bikes featured in Return of the Jedi, but look more similar to speeders used by Darth Maul or General Greivous in Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.

Considering the vehicles get their own toys and figures to accompany them, we can assume there will be a sequence in which characters are chased down by the Canto Bight Police for one reason or another.

It would make sense that we see neutral police authorities in this location, as director Rian Johnson referred to it as "a Star Wars Monte Carlo–type environment, a little James Bond–ish, a little To Catch a Thief." He added, "It was an interesting challenge, portraying luxury and wealth in this universe."

As some of the locations featured in the teaser for The Last Jedi appeared to be bleak and desolate, the filmmaker wanted to offer a different interpretation of the galaxy, explaining, "I was thinking, O.K., let's go ultra-glamour. Let's create a playground, basically, for rich a**holes."

We'll get an even better look at the exciting planet when The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the second film in the new Star Wars sequel trilogy that began with Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015. The film will deal with Luke training Rey to become a, and possibly the last, Jedi. Meanwhile, the Resistance, including Poe Dameron and First Order defector Finn, continues to fight against the First Order, led by General Hux, while Supreme Leader Snoke and his Dark Side follower Kylo Ren continue their mysterious plot.
