The release of Rogue One marked a unique experience for Star Wars fans, as the movie told the story of characters only briefly mentioned in the original film. The film seemingly ended at a point in time in which the events of the first film began, but according to the new book Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View, an entire hour separates the end of Rogue One and the opening of Star Wars.
The spinoff film ended with the plans for the Death Star making their way into the hands of Princess Leia aboard the Tantive IV, only for the ship to escape Darth Vader's clutches. The ship was initially docked with the Profundity because a previous mission had left it in rough shape, requiring repairs to both its offensive and defensive components, in addition to its hyperdrive.
Knowing the peril they were in, the Tantive IV was barely able to make an escape with the plans, setting their sights on Tatooine. According to the book, the crew spent roughly an hour trying to repair the ship before the Devastator showed up, which is where the original Star Wars begins.
From a Certain Point of View collects 40 different stories focusing on perspectives from 40 different supporting characters involved in the original film. The story which details what happens to the Tantive IV focuses on Raymus Antilles, the ship's captain.
The book has shed light on a variety of different unanswered questions around the film, ranging from stories about Yoda, Boba Fett and even the bartender Wuher from the Mos Eisley Cantina.
One of the more surprising pieces of information the book shares is that Yoda was contacted by Obi-Wan's spirit in regards to training the "Chosen One." The Jedi Master was shocked when Kenobi referred to Luke as the one to be trained, as Yoda got a feeling that he would be training Leia to bring balance to the Force.
