Filmmaker Kevin Smith has made his admiration of the Star Wars saga well known since his very first film Clerks. To celebrate the release of the new trailer for The Last Jedi, the media mogul took to his YouTube account to share immediate thoughts and field questions from fans.

One of the biggest points that Smith emphasized is that the final sequence, which portrays a meeting between Kylo Ren and Rey, is most likely edited to appear as though the two are in a room together. One of the more controversial elements of the trailer was this exchange, in which it appears as though Kylo offers Rey the chance to join him in his quest for galactic domination.

Given Smith's familiarity with marketing films and cutting trailers, he pieced together various clues that he thought confirmed these scenes don't play out the way they do in the trailer. The biggest clue being that it appears as though the backgrounds of each character in the sequence look drastically different.

One of Smith's more surprising reactions to the trailer is that, compared to all the people who can't wait to find out the origins of Supreme Leader Snoke, that information is a very low priority for him.

"You know what? I don't wanna know," Smith confessed. "If they tell us in this movie, great, but if they don't tell us until the third movie, I'm good."

Both Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher appeared in Smith's Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back, with the director referring to them by their first names and expressing excitement each time they were on screen.

Of the whole trailer, the sequence which alludes to Kylo potentially killing his mother Leia had a big impact on Smith.

"This moment, in this trailer, where it looks like, 'Do I take out my mother?' That's big." Smith admitted. "That's huge, if that's what really happens. If not, great fake. If that's what happens, that's intense. That's drama. That's the Skywalker family drama."

You can head to Smith's YouTube channel to see the whole reaction video.

The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15.
