Thanks to social media, Mark Hamill has never shied away from fueling the flames of conspiracy in the world of Star Wars. Earlier today, the actor shared an international poster for The Last Jedi to "shoot down" rumors created by another one of the film's posters.

The specific rumor that Hamill poked fun at was centered around his placement on the film's official poster, which debuted earlier last month. In this new poster, Rey and Luke have swapped positions, which Hamill joked disproves the theory.

While fans knew that Hamill would reprise his role of Luke Skywalker in The Force Awakens, they were disappointed to not only learn barely anything about what the character had been up to since Return of the Jedi, but we also only got to see him on screen for a few moments, which featured no dialogue.

The first teaser for The Last Jedi, which debuted back in April, featured Luke claiming that the Jedi must end, giving early hints that he had gone down a darker path during his isolation since last we saw him. Last month's trailer offered more looks at Luke, but remained ambiguous in where his allegiances laid.

Last month's poster, on the other hand, displayed an interesting trend that the events of The Last Jedi could possibly confirm. Multiple installments in the saga have featured posters in which the villain looms large in the background, including Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace, Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back and Kylo Ren in The Force Awakens.

Luke's hooded presence in the background of the poster for The Last Jedi potentially hinted that Luke could ultimately be the villain of the film, as opposed to his appearance merely being graphically appealing.

This new international poster for the film not only refutes that claim, but also shows Luke wielding Anakin's lightsaber, something he hasn't done since he lost his hand in Empire Strikes Back.

We'll learn more about Luke's allegiances when The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15.
