Today is a bittersweet day as many look back in remembrance on the late Carrie Fisher and her amazing career.

The social media account for Fisher's lovable French bulldog Gary also posted his own photo celebrating his adoptive mother, showing Gary, Carrie, and the actor's assistant Corby McCoin. Take a look at the heartwarming photo below.

Gary the dog was a frequent guest of Fisher's at red carpet and press events, and even accompanied her on the book tour for The Princess Diarist.

Fisher adopted Gary from her daughter Billie Lourd as a means to aid her living with bipolar disorder. The actor was not shy about her fondness for the the service pet, using Gary's love as emotional support.

Gary has since popped up in the wake of Carrie Fisher's passing, notably when the dog first watched the trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi and again while watching the movie when it released.

Gary even has a cameo role in the new movie, inspiring a strange creature that appears as a pet during the Canto Bight sequence.

These days, Gary is living with Fisher's former assistant McCoin, who apparently has a strong connection with the dog.

Today will be hard for anyone who has ever been impacted by the late Fisher, and especially so for those who were close to her. Seeing everyone pay tribute to her memory, many of them using the hashtag #CarrieOnForever, is an inspiring testament to her legacy.

Carrie Fisher can be seen in her final performance as Leia Organa right now, as Star Wars: The Last Jedi is playing in theaters.
