Victor Strand's Past Revealed On Fear The Walking Dead

On tonight's new episode of Fear the Walking Dead (the second great episode in as many weeks), the show finally shed some light on the dark mystery around its Victor Strand character.

Prior to the apocalypse, it appears that Victor Strand was both a cunning business man and a con man. The Abigail which he has brought the group aboard is not actual his, but in fact, belongs to Thomas Abigail.

After getting Thomas drunk around the time of Hurricane Katrina, Strand took all of his credit cards and spent $36,000 on himself - buying clothing and debts. However, Thomas caught onto to Strand and eventually found him, obligating him to pay it all back and then some. According to Strand, that was his plan all along, and eventually the two ended up in a relationship.

While it's clear that Thomas Abigail has lived a very extravagant lifestyle for a long time, Strand stayed hungry for more and wanted to capitalize on the opportunities presented to him through his new relationship. To end the episode's flashbacks, Strand left Thomas behind to go to a very important meeting, promising to be back in two days.

Did he ever return? Probably not. The best guess is that he was either conning Thomas Abigail all along or the world ended and his journey with Travis, Madison, and the group is a real love story as he attempts to find Thomas in Mexico.

"I think it's interesting for the audience to interpret," Colman Domingo tells ComicBook.com about the relationship between Strand and Abigail. "There's so much more than meets the eye. We laid out how this relationship begins. It's a meeting of the minds and talking about who we are and about obligation. They're two very strong Type A personalities and we don't know exactly what their relationship is but it's just really about opportunity or being opportunists so they establish a bond in some way."

According to Domingo, Strand is not a liar. He means what he says and if he doesn't believe it, it won't leave his mouth. The actor says that Strand's strongest weapon is his tongue.

"I do believe Strand is very clear," Domingo says. "They've written him very well in terms of his language skills. He says what he means. He may not say certain things because he doesn't mean it. I like to approach Strand with everything he says is a truth. If it's not a truth, he doesn't say it. It's up to interpretation. At the end of the episode, I find it very interesting that it's someone going off somewhere dangerous and Abigail says, 'I love you,' and Strand says, 'I'll be back soon.'"

"I think Abigail could've been a woman, or a man in this instance, but if the opportunity were to happen Strand would seize the opportunity whether it was man or woman," Domingo concludes.

Fear the Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 PM ET on AMC.
