In preparation for the single biggest and most anticipated episode of The Walking Dead's history, AMC will air a two-hour retrospective special on Sunday night - exactly one week from the Season 7 premiere.

The Walking Dead: The Journey So Far will explore the six seasons of The Walking Dead which started in Atlanta, leading the group to Alexandria, and eventually to the introduction of Jeffrey Dean Morgan's villainous Negan.

Anyone who has thrown their blu-ray collection of The Walking Dead's first season into their blu-ray player to take a trip down memory lane with the first six episodes has caught on to how far the characters have come. Carol was an abused wife, Rick's biggest issue (aside from survival) was his former best friend Shane, Merle was trapped on a rooftop, and the CDC was about to explode. In fact, nobody even knew that the dead reanimated without being bitten! So, not only did the bunch look very different but they had some significantly altered threats by comparison to the more recent seasons.

The Journey So Far will feature exclusive interviews with cast members like Laurie Holden, who played Andrea until the third season of The Walking Dead, before bowing out in a moment which truly shocked fans of the Robert Kirkman's comics.

It all leads up to the moment Negan brought down his bat on the camera man in what will surely be the turning point for Rick's group as a whole. As Ross Marquand puts it, the Season 7 premiere is about "the complete emasculation of Rick." We're exactly one week away.

The Walking Dead: The Journey So Far airs Sunday, October 16 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC. The Walking Dead returns for its seventh season on October 23. For complete coverage and insider info all season long, follow @BrandonDavisBD on Twitter.
