The Walking Dead is officially headed Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center at San Diego Comic Con. Ahead the AMC series' Friday panel, the Season 8 premiere date has been announced.

The Walking Dead Season 8 will premiere on October 22, 2017, as revealed as a key art advertisement in the San Diego airport in preparation for Comic Con.

The Season 8 premiere of The Walking Dead will also serve as the 100th overall episode of the series. Simon Actor Steven Ogg sat down with ComicBook.com to talk all things Walking Dead, including the big episode 100 which he already filmed. From the sounds of it, fans should be excited.

"Yeah, it's a big, big show," Ogg said. "I mean I really didn't think about the one hundred thing so much as it's, where it says it's all out war, you definitely get that. Oh yeah. It's all out war."

This won't be Ogg's first experience in such a talked about event either, as his character's debut came during one of the most watched (and most controversial) episodes of the show. Showrunner Scott Gimple recently revealed the trajectory of the 100th episode as well as the rest of the upcoming season.

"The way we plan ahead is to live in abject terror and anxiety. It isn't about necessarily planning the 100th episode, it is sort of about planning the next 100 episodes," Gimple said. "In a lot of ways, we've planned out this show into many seasons from now. The comic book affords us that and then the inspiration we get from the comic and things we want to see more of."

"What I'm hoping for the season premiere to be next year is the kick off of the next 100 episodes. The promise of more story and another future. Every eight episodes we try to reinvent ourselves and we're gonna try and do it again."

The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes) Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), Danai Gurira (Michonne), Melissa McBride (Carol Peletier), Lauren Cohan (Maggie Greene), Alanna Masterson (Tara Chambler), Josh McDermitt (Dr. Eugene Porter), Christian Serratos 9Rosita Espinosa), Seth Gilliam (Father Gabriel Stokes), Ross Marquand (Aaron), Lennie James (Morgon Jones), Austin Amelio (Dwight), Tom Payne (Paul 'Jesus' Rovia), Katelyn Nacon (Enid), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan), and Steven Ogg (Simon).
