A deleted scene from the special features disc in The Walking Dead: The Complete Seventh Season Blu-ray collection brings several characters back from the dead for a bittersweet dream sequence in the season's first episode.
While fans got a taste of Rick's dream, seeing his picture of the Alexandria survivors sitting around a table eating dinner, the cast and crew shot a much longer version of the sequence.
Spoiler warning, however, as below is a recap of the scene as it appears on the Blu-ray set, which is available on August 22, 2017...
The scene is one continuous shot accompanied by a touching score from Bear McCreary. It was ultimately eliminated from Rick's dream sequence in Episode 7x01 ("The Day Will Come When You Won't Be").
Rosita lights torches around Alexandria, she is dressed nicely.
Behind her, Abraham sits on a bench with Sasha. In front of them, Glenn sits on a picnic-type blanket with his little boy. Getting closer, we see him playing with his son, panning to Sasha laughing with Abe as Carol walks by with a tray of cookies. As Carol exits, Michonne emerges in a white and beige dress, equipped with two unopened beers. She smiles to Glenn.
In the street behind her, a remote-control car zips through the street. Glenn and his boy run to play with it. Eugene enters the frame from the right side, dressed in a button down and cargo shorts, revealing himself to be in control of the car, just as Aaron emerges, dressed cleanly and professionally carrying firewood.
As Aaron sets the wood down, Maggie walks up the street and meets Glenn and their kid. They play for a moment before sharing a kiss.
Daryl steps to the firewood with Aaron as the table is being set.
Fade to the dinner table scene which sees all of Alexandria, including Sasha, Abraham, Glenn, Maggie, Spencer, Tara, Michonne, Daryl, Morgan, and others. The camera reaches the end of the table -- Glenn and Abraham nod to one another.
Though Sasha would not survive Season Seven, Rick's dream sequence may have indicated a pregnancy for the character was coming.
As Abraham sits with her on the bench, she is clearly showing her pregnancy as Alexandria enjoys this fabled life created in Rick's dream. The same can be seen during the dinner scene which landed itself in the Season Seven premiere's broadcast edition, though it is not as visible as when Sonequa Martin-Green sat, in character, on a bench with Abraham.
In addition to Sasha's pregnancy, fans will be reminded of the character Eugene Porter used to be prior to his defection to Negan and the Saviors. Daryl, on the other hand, hasn't changed at all. He is the only character truly dressed as fans have come to know him over seven years rather than suiting up for this dinner!
