Is Shiva a Walker in 'The Walking Dead' Mythology?

Tonight's episode of The Walking Dead, "Some Guy," had possibly one of the saddest deaths of the last season or two of the series. In an act of pure sacrifice, Ezekiel's majestic tiger, Shiva, gave her life in order for her king to walk away unharmed.

As Carol and Jerry got Ezekiel to safety, a few walkers were seen tearing Shiva apart, and her horrifying sounds made it clear that the great beast had actually died. The blood flowing down the creek simply confirmed it.

Those who look to the comics for answers may be wondering what happens next. Sure, animals in the world of the show may not come back after being bitten, but are things different in the original books? Does Shiva somehow find a way to come back?

Unfortunately not. Even in the comics, Shiva is gone for good.

The death happened almost exactly the same way in the books however, with the tiger showing up at the last minute to save the life of Ezekiel. The only real difference in the show is that both Carol and Jerry were around to witness it. In the comics, Ezekiel was by himself.

Either way, it's a sad day knowing that Shiva the tiger really is gone for good.
