'The Walking Dead' Was the Second Most Torrented TV Show of 2017

The Walking Dead can once again count itself among the most torrented television shows of the year, for better or worse.

The Walking Dead is again the second most torrented show of the year, behind HBO's Game of Thrones, which takes the first place spot for the sixth year running according to Torrent Freak.

The CW's The Flash is the third most torrented show of the year, up from fourth place last year. CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory is the fourth most torrented show, up from sixth place last year.

Three newcomers to the list fill the 5-7 slots on this year's most-torrented list. Adult Swim's animated sensation Rick and Morty takes the fifth-place spot. Prison Break comes in at sixth place. The long-awaited return of Sherlock lands in seventh-place.

Vikings drops from seventh to eighth place on this year's chart. Suits remains steady at number nine. The CW's Arrow sees the biggest fall in torrenting, going from fifth-place in 2016 to tenth-place in 2017.

It should be noted that torrenting accounts for a diminishing percentage of online piracy of television episodes as streaming piracy has gained significant ground in recent years.

While Game of Thrones continues to break ratings records despite being so heavily torrented, The Walking Dead has been in a bit of a ratings crisis this year.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC for the remainder of its eighth season on February 25, 2018.
